Choose Band as Your Elective
With all the elective choices available in middle school, we would like you to consider “Try Music First!” for your child. Certainly, there is value in our exploratory offerings, but what the exploratory track lacks is MUSIC. 6th grade is the ONLY grade that GBMS starts beginners, this is the only chance to try band. We don't want to see you miss the chance to Be Part of the Band!

Schedule an Instrument Interview with the Directors
6th grade band students are able to choose between flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion. Some students may already have an idea of what instrument they want to play, while others have not even thought about it yet. Either way, it is vitally important that we meet with each student and their parent(s) to assist in this important decision.

Every destination starts with a decision to embark on a journey. Now is the time to start your child in music and Great Bridge Middle School is the place to do it. We can’t promise that every child will be a musical prodigy, but we can promise they will learn, laugh, and grow along the way. Also keep in mind that if it turns out that playing a musical instrument is not the right fit for your child, they can still try the exploratory offerings in 7th or 8th grade.
